Ladders and step ladders can cause injury
Statistics show that more than a quarter of all reported falls at work involve the use of a ladder.

The Health and Safety Executive states that on average 13 people a year die at work falling from ladders and almost 1200 people suffer major injuries.

The decision to use a ladder should involve only tasks of a short duration, where there is low risk or no alternative to using a ladder.

Any employers concerned about the health and safety of its employees should complete a risk analysis of all work and satisfy themselves that a ladder is the most suitable piece of equipment to perform the job.
