| Personal Injury News: £12,000 for workplace accident |
| An employee who injured his back at work has been awarded £12,000 compensation.
Craig Lewis, an employee at Lewisham Council, injured his back in 2004 when a chair collapsed as he sat on it causing him to suffer with severe back pain, which now requires regular pain medication. This was an out of court settlement achieved with the assistance of the Trade Union Unison. Vicky Easton, regional head of local government at Unison, told the News Shopper: "We are pleased with the result of Craig Lewis' case. This an employee with 20 years of service who is now having to look for a new, less manual, role within the council because of his recurring back pain. The compensation is wholly justified."
