| Personal Injury News: GMC suspends surgeon |
| The General Medical Council has suspended a surgeon following a number of clinical negligence claims that have been lodged against him. Breast surgeon Brian Gwynn, operated privately at Rowley Hall Hospital and on the NHS at Staffordshire General Hospital, has been banned from carrying out any surgery for 18 months by the GMC’s Interim panel. A total of six women have sought damages against Mr Gwynn following surgery performed by him which has left some of his patients complaining of infection, scarring and in need of corrective surgery. Clear concerns were raised following the gathering of evidence on Mr Gwynn's operating practices but as yet no findings have been made against Mr Gwynn however the seriousness of the ongoing cases has prompted the GMC to impose an Interim Order, effectively preventing him from performing any breast surgery.
