Personal Injury News: NHS using faulty pregnancy test
The chance of thousands of women being unaware they may be pregnant is a likely possibility following a revelation by the NHS that the pregnancy test they have been using is faulty.

Over the past three months the Clearview HGC test may have been used in up to fifty hospitals throughout the UK suggesting that women are not pregnant.

Makers of the drug, US-based Inverness Medical Innovations, after identifying over forty potentially erroneous tests, immediately contacted the hospitals concerned although they have refused to name which hospitals due to customer confidentiality.

A statement by the company said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this recall may have caused to our customers and their patients.”

The NHS has placed an urgency on locating those women as they may unknowingly be endangering their baby’s health. Not an easy task as they have stated they are unsure exactly who received the test.

Any women who may have received the test are being urged to contact their GP, local hospital or to buy a home pregnancy test for confirmation.

The government watchdog, Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, revealed that the affected lot was distributed between March and April this year.
