| Personal Injury News: Paralysed ex-soldier awarded compensation |
| A claim against the Ministry of Defence has resulted in an accident at work compensation claim for one former soldier, to the tune of £5.2 million. The incident involving the claimant, who was a passenger in an Army Land Rover, overturned on a road leaving the man paralysed from the chest down and requiring round the clock care. Although liability was admitted by the MOD in 2004, the actual payout was not immediately assessed due to the ongoing observation to determine the amount of compensation. The payout will also be reduced by 20% to £4.16 million due to the fact that the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the road accident.
