Personal Injury News: Payout of £237,000 following accident
A former electrician, working for the construction company Laing O’Rouke in 2004, has been awarded £237,000 compensation following an incident which left the ex-employee with a crushed hand resulting in the end of his career.

Despite advising his colleagues of his lack of experience, Eric Palmer was instructed to assist with a fault on a machine which caused the injury to his hand and has left him unable to continue with his profession and also certain hobbies.

Mr Palmer’s solicitor, Ken Jones, said, “Laing O’Rourke failed on several fronts to protect Eric. He was clearly put in a position of danger and was given no guidance whatsoever as to how to handle the machine. Eric himself recognised that attending to the machine wasn’t the right thing to do. Unfortunately, he paid a very high price for agreeing to do it.”
