Personal Injury News: Personal Injury Solicitors Advertise in Hospital
An investigation by the Daily Mail has revealed that British hospitals are flouting government guidelines by allowing personal injury lawyers, often referred to as ‘ambulance chasers’ to advertise their services, some even hand out literature.

A spokesperson for the British Medical Association said “It’s a sad reflection on the financial state of the NHS that they feel they have no choice but to rely on these services to generate an income.’

The newspaper further discovered during its research that advertising rates in some hospitals topped £18,000 per, with some of the hospital trusts actively targeting personal injury solicitors to advertise within its wards.

Chairman of the Patients Association, Michael Summers, told the Daily Mail “A hospital waiting room is a singularly inappropriate place for personal injury teams to advertise. I have heard that teams even go round to patients in their beds to try to drum up business. …It is basically wrong that trusts are conniving in this. All these solicitors are interested in is seeing how much money they can make. They make a lot of money from people who manage to sue successfully.”
